Rajesh is one of my best friend. He is from Namakkal. I met him on 2004. We were classmate in MCA and in classroom we were benchmate too. Our friends used call him as 'Kutty Rajesh.' In our batch there are two Rajesh. He is short in height. So they used call him as 'Kutty Rajesh.'

At present, Rajesh is working in Bangalore as a Software Engineer. Rajesh used to meet me at least six months once. Recently, he came to Coimbatore.

Rajesh brought three things to my home. They are...
  1. T-Shirts
  2. Fruit and Sweet
  3. Magazines
Kannan
Rajesh brought T-Shirt, Sweet and Book
T-Shirts

Actually, Rajesh brought two shirts. One is in Medium size and another one in Large size. He told that you can take any one T-shirt or both. At the end I took both. The medium sized T-shirt is in white color (I am wearing in the above picture) and this is my favorite one. I yet to wear the second T-shirt. It's in hanger.

Fruit and Sweet

Rajesh bought Lion dates, Milka Wonder Cake and Britannia Rusk. We already ate both cake and dates. But, the rusk is still in our cupboard.

Magazines
Reader's digest

Rajesh brought three magazines (One English and Two Tamil). They are...
  1. Reader's Digest
  2. Puthiya Thalaimurai
  3. Aval Vikatan
In fact, I already bought Aval Vikatan for my wife. Therefore, I suggested Rajesh to take into his home. Today, I read few articles from Reader's Digest.

Last month I went to my cousin's home. I bought sweets for them. But I did not buy anything to read. Now I feel that I should follow Rajesh and buy book whenever I will go to relatives home.

I suggest you to follow my friend, Rajesh. Book is the best gift you can present to anybody.

Don't Apply For These Jobs

The above advertisement have been published in Times of India (Bangalore Edition) on last Wednesday (23.04.12). I read it through epaper.

What is your initial reaction for this advertisement? Let's discuss about this advertisement. There are two views.
  1. Used their creativity
  2. Attention seeker
Used their creativity

They are thinking differently. They communicated their requirements creatively.

Attention seeker

They used the words negatively (Don't Apply) to get quickly our attention. They are attention seeker.

Let me listen. What do you think about this advertisement? Is it an example for creativity or an example for how to be an attention seeker?

Sachin, I have question. Could you answer to me?

Sachin

Dear Sachin,

This is Kannan. My favorite outdoor game is Cricket. I spend lot of hours in front of television while you are playing. I never missed to read about you in newspaper.

One of your fan said, "Cricket is my religion and Sachin is my God." I am also like him. I like you and admire you. Once you said, "Straight drive is my favorite shot." I tried to play straight drive while playing in my village street.

I follow you on Twitter. I also have written few times about you in my blog on the following topic.
  1. Sachin shared his MOM photo on Twitter
  2. Congratulate Sachin on his website
  3. Sachin Does Not Follow Any Woman
Sachin you are tweeting about your Mumbai Indians team and your team members performance. Recently, you sent the following messages on Twitter.

Sachin's Twitter

Sachin's Twitter

Sachin's Twitter

Now, my question is why you did not send any message while playing for India. You did not send a single message during World Cup or Asia Cup. What is the reason?

Virat Kohli played exceptionally well in Asia Cup. But you did not use your finger to type something about him. On other hand, you wrote about your Mumbai team members (Rohit Sharma, Dwayne Smith and Kieron Pollard) performance. What is the reason?

Please keep in mind. My aim is just to know the reason not to doubt your patriotism. However, all the best to become a champion in IPL-V.

Thanks
Kannan

Why I preferred Sambar Vadai over Curd Vadai?

Sambar Vadai?
Photo: www.myspicyhut.com

"Today's breakfast is Idly. What do you like to have (Samabar or Chutney)?", my wife asked me. "I want both Samabar and Chutney", I replied to her. My tongue will start dancing whenever it meets Sambar and Chutney together.

But, nowadays, I prefer sambar especially in restaurant. The reason is few days ago I read something. I will tell you about it later.

"Could you prepare vadai for me?", I asked my wife on last Saturday. "No, I am not feeling well. We will eat in any other day", she replied. Today, I decided to eat vadai. I went to restaurant and asked vadai. The waiter asked me, "whether samabar vadai or curd vadai?"

I love curd vadai. But, I took few seconds to think and ordered sambar vadai. Why I didn't order curd vadai? The reason is...

It was power-cut time. No internet. I felt bored. I tried to sleep. Sweating does not allow me to sleep. I decided to read. I turned left on bed. There was a women magazine, which my wife used to read. I took it and started to read.

Most of the women magazine particularly Tamil magazine offer supplementary book. Interestingly, majority of the books are recipes. Rarely, the magazine, which I read that day, have issued travelling tips as a supplementary book. One lady have shared the tips.

One of the tips is...

"Try to avoid chutney in restaurant. It's better to prefer sambar." The reason is water. We don't know the quality of water used in chutney. In case of sambar, it was boiled one. So the quality of water is less concerned over the water used in chutney.

I had doubt over the quality of water used in curd vadai. Therefore, I ate sambar vadai. It was very tasty.

Politics: Tamil Nadu government spent 25 crore for an advertisement

Newspaper

Are you living in Tamil Nadu? Have you read newspaper yesterday? What is your initial reaction after seeing Tamil Nadu government advertisement? Well, it quickly made me to remember two points.

1. Now AIADMK is ruling Tamil Nadu.
2. J. Jayalalithaa is the chief minster of Tamil Nadu

Yesterday, all the newspapers both English and Tamil carried Tamil Nadu government's one year achievement in four pages as an advertisement. Around 25 crore spent for this advertisement (A journalist said this amount in a TV discussion).

Remember, the AIADMK party did not spent for advertisement. It is public money. Yes, my money, your money and our money used for this advertisement.

Let us talk politics

Now we start our discussion here. There are two views.

1. Public money is wasted
2. Public awareness has been created

Public money is wasted

The money might be used for some other social welfare activities such as building public toilet, creating official Facebook page for all government's departments.

Public awareness has been created

Awareness is an important one. Government must advertise about their actions and achievements. Advertisement is the one and only way to reach common people.

Let us open our mouth. First I do it. Initially, I thought government is wasting money. Later, I realized the advertisement has initiated discussion (Now we are also discussing here) about this government performance which is good for country.

What you think about this advertisement? Remember our money has been paid for this advertisement. Whether this expense is unnecessary or necessary?

Today, I sent an article to newspaper (The Hindu)

The Hindu

My days always starts with newspaper. I am reading 'The Hindu' since 2000. I completed my schooling in April, 2000. The college hostel introduced me 'The Hindu.' Initially, I found difficult to read it. Sometime I was not able to understand the meaning of the words. Because, in school, I studied in Tamil medium.

Initial days, my favorite section was cartoon. Because, cartoon alone had less number of words and it was easy for me to understand. I used to take note about the word which I don't know the meaning. Later, I started to read with the help of dictionary.

I am writing this blog since May, 2010. So far I have published more than 200 posts. It is because of 'The Hindu.' Yes, I have improved (and improving) my vocabulary by reading it. Thanks to 'The Hindu.'

Today, I sent an article to 'The Hindu.' This is my first article to newspaper. It is very small article. It contains less than 300 words. The subject of article is about mother's day. If my article match with their (The Hindu) quality then it will be published on upcoming Sundays paper under 'open page' section.

One of my goal for the year 2012 is to publish at least one article in newspaper. Let us wait and see what is going to happen to my first article.

Yesterday, I went to watch 4 O' clock show. My ticket cost is Rs. 50. The total duration of the show is 2 and 1/2 hours. Try to sit nearer to fan. Otherwise buy handmade fan for Rs.20.

You might think that circus is only for kids. But, yesterday there were so many college boys and girls. My favorite event in circus is Elephant Cricket. It hits six just like Dhoni. I thought that would catch the ball. Unfortunately, the big elephant did not hit on my area.

It's better to buy snacks outside. In side, the varieties are limited (Ice cream, Popcorn, Lays and Samosa). Yesterday, the samosa was not tasty.

Chris Gayle is sleeping the whole day!

Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle, the most dangerous batsman in IPL, recently said that...

"I sleep the whole day after breakfast to get in shape for the game."

We all know the importance of sleeping. But, we compromise our sleeping hours. We prefer to watch T.V or browse internet during sleeping hours. Yes, especially I used to sleep less than six hours per day.

Today, I extended my sleeping hours half an hour. Thanks to Chris Gayle! What about you? How long you sleep? When you compromise your sleeping hours?

We would like to hit six like Gayle. Similarly, we will try to sleep like Gayle. Because, sleep is essential to good health. Now, I feel sleepy (Time is 00.42 am). Good Night!

I said YES. But my wife said NO. Then...

Book: Off to sea-A Romance

It was Sunday morning. I was reading newspaper (The Hindu). My wife was near to me. She was reading magazine (சிநேகிதி). I was reading movie review. The movie name is Case No. 18/9 (வழக்கு எண் 18/9).

Kannan: Shall we go for movie?
My wife: No.
Kannan: Why?
My wife: I am not interested.
Kannan: What happened?
My wife: Our relationship is not good. Then, what is the use of going out?

Yes, last few days our relationship was not in good shape. We both were travelling in different directions. Whenever I approached my wife, she was busy with her work like cooking, washing and ironing. Similarly, I was busy with my computer whenever she turned to me.

The real problem is we did not have enough time to talk. We were engaged with our individual priorities. Eventually it started to spoil our wavelength and mood.

My wife: Our relationship is not good. Then what's the use of going out?
Kannan: Yesterday, I told you that I am always thinking about you.
My wife: Yes, you said it. But I don't accept.
Kannan: Believe me. I love you.
My wife: ...
Kannan: Yesterday, I bought a book for you.

Last Saturday, I went to R.S.Puram to drop my friend, who came here from Namakkal to attend an interview. He was attending interview. I was waiting for him. Meantime, I roamed in R.S.Puram particularly in D.B. road and TV Swamy road.

First, I thought of purchase something for my one year old son. I decided to buy cycle for him. I found one beautiful bicycle on Red-Yellow color combination. But the cost of cycle is Rs. 2,500. At that time, I did not have that much money. So I left it.

Second, I shown interest to buy dress for my wife. This time my mind was not cooperating with me. Still it was thinking about that particular bicycle. So I was not able to select the best one for my wife. So I walked away from the shop.

Third and last, I entered into old bookshop (Pic 'n' Pac), which is located in T.V. Swamy Road West. I bought two books. First one for my wife and the second book for my cousin. The first book name is OFF TO SEA: A Romance. The author name is Richard Stine.

Book: Off to sea-A Romance

Kannan: Yesterday, I bought a book for you.
My wife: Hmm...
Kannan: I am sure. You like this book.
My wife: ...
Kannan: Each and every page have colorful pictures.
My wife: Hmm...
Kannan: I bought this book just for you. Please have it.

As I said earlier last few days we were not in good wavelength. So I decided to give the book later to my wife.

Remember, I bought this book from old book shop for Rs. 50. The book was published on 1987. Tony was the person who initially bought this book. He had given this book to his darling. Yes, Tony had gifted for valentine's day. He had written the following message.

"Darling,

Happy Valentine's Day 1987

-Tony"

He had written the above message on the first page of the book. The message is still visible. Have a look.

Book: Off to sea-A Romance

Kannan: I bought this book just for you. Please have it.
.
.
.
My wife read that book and asked me...
.
.
.
My wife: What do you want to say?
Kannan: Nothing. But, I love you.
My wife: :) :) :)
.
.
.
We both started to have breakfast. We ate Pongal. We did not use two plates. We ate from single plate together.
.
.
.
Kannan: Shall we go for movie?
My wife: ! ! !
Kannan: We have two movies (Leelai and Case No. 18/9).
My wife: Hmm...
Kannan: The Hindu says both are good movie.
My wife: Hmm...
Kannan: But we will go for the second movie. Shall we go?
My wife: Yes.

Book: Off to sea-A Romance

When you started to use mobile phone?

Vazhakku Enn 18/9 | Case No: 18/9

Today, I watched Case No. 18/9 (வழக்கு எண் 18/9) in Shanthi Theatre, Coimbatore. Movie is all about cyber crime. In case no. 18/9, school students particularly boys are using mobile phone in wrong manner.

After watching this movie I just raised one question to myself. The question is when I started to use mobile phone.

First Phone

In 2006, during my college final year of MCA I bought my first mobile phone. I used my first phone almost five years. My first phone does not have any advanced features like Camera. Now I am using Samsung Champ. This is my second phone. It was gifted by my brother one year ago.
