Indians Are World No.1 Book Lovers

Few weeks ago I had a close look on India (Google.co.in) and America (Google.com). I observed the differences between India and America. The differences made me to raise few questions. One of the question encouraged me to do research. Here I would like to share my research results.

There are eight quick links (Images, News, Maps & etc) in left side of Google's home page. But the order of the links and type of links are not common in India and America's home page.

America's Home Page

In Google.com, the quick link names are...
  1. Web
  2. Images
  3. Videos
  4. Maps
  5. News
  6. Shopping
  7. Gmail
  8. More
India's Home Page

In Google.co.in, the quick link names are...
  1. Web
  2. Images
  3. Maps
  4. News
  5. Orkut
  6. Books
  7. Gmail
  8. More
The first and last two quick links are same in India and America. The first two quick links are Web and Images. The last two quick links are Gmail and More.

India and America

There are six common quick links between India and America. These six links are...
  1. Web
  2. Images
  3. Maps
  4. News
  5. Gmail
  6. More
There are four different links between India and America. These four links are...
  1. Videos (America)
  2. Shopping (America)
  3. Orkut (India)
  4. Books (India)

After observing these differences I raised few questions. The important question is what is the reason for this particular differences. As an Indian I would like to know the reason for India's quick links such as Orkut and Books.

Videos

Americans are using high speed internet whereas Indians are using low speed internet. This is may be a reason for why Goolge does not keep Video as quick link in India.

Shopping

India is a developing country. It will take time for full-fledged online shopping for Indians. This is may be a reason for why Goolge left Shopping as quick link in India.

Orkut

I did not do any research to find why Google keeps Orkut as a quick link. Because I already know that Orkut is very popular in India. Until few months ago, Orkut is No.1 social networking site in India. So I assumed this may be the reason for keeping Orkut as a quick link in India.

Books

Initially I don't have any idea to find why Google keeps Book as a quick link. But I needed solid reason. I searched in many angle. But I was not able to find single reason. However I was desperately looking for reason.

We all know India is not a developed country. India's literacy rate is very low. Therefore Google's quick link for book may be meaningless.

On other hand, the number of graduates from Indian colleges are high in world. So we can easily say Google targets Indian students by keeping book as quick link.

My Research

I am basically book lover. I have shown my special interest to find the reason for why Google keeps book as quick in India. At the end I find perfect answer for my question.

The answer is "Indians are world No.1 book lovers". Based on this reason alone Google keeps book as quick link in India's home page. Here I would like to prove my reason.

Google Trends

I used 'Google Trends' to find the answer for my question. Google Trends is a tool used to find how often a particular keyword used in Google search engine. The term 'Books' was very often used by the following nations...
  1. India
  2. South Africa
  3. United States
  4. Australia
  5. New Zealand
In India 7% of people alone use internet. But still Indians are No.1 to use the term 'books' as keyword in Google search engine. This is my reason for why Google keeps book as quick link in India.

Conclusion

You may have read the following statement...

 Meantime don't forget to remember...
