World's First Website Address

My favorite character in English alphabet is "W." One of the reason for this is an Internet. Generally we can classify this world into two category. The categories are...
  1. Before Internet
  2. After Internet
Before Internet, the character "W" is one of the least used character in English alphabet. But, After Internet "W" is one of the most used character in English alphabet.

Recently I came to know the world's first website. The website was created on 1991. The website address is http://info.cern.ch. The following image is the screen shot of the world's first website.

World's First Website

If we look very closely at the above screen shot we can easily identify few differences between modern browser and old browser. Vertical scroll bar is in the left hand side of the old browser whereas in modern browser it exists in the right hand side.

Now I am following WWW inventor

Browsing is one of the regular activities in our life. We can't imagine a minute without an Internet. Especially for me it's tough to live without web. Sometime I forgot to eat because of Internet. Yes, Internet is my best friend.

Just five minutes before I started to follow the inventor of World Wide Web (WWW) on Twitter. Tim Berners-Lee is an inventor of WWW. By accident today I came to know his Twitter address.

Currently Tim Berners-Lee is the director of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). I am very proud to follow him on Twitter. He is the man who made life easy for us by inventing WWW.

More than 50 Thousands people follow Tim Berners-Lee. However he follows less than 90 people or products on Twitter. Firefox is one of the products that he follow on Twitter.

Anna Hazare is not popular in South India

Today one of my friends asked me to write about Anna Hazare. Nowadays all the newspapers are filled by Anna Hazare. Day by day people support for Anna Hazare is gradually increasing.

I just shown my interest to know where Anna is very popular. I came to know that Anna is not popular in South India.

Google Trends

I used Google Trends to find Anna's popularity in India. Google Trends is a tool used to find how often a particular keyword used in Google search engine.

The term 'Anna Hazare' was often typed by the following state...
  1. Haryana
  2. Assam
  3. Bihar
  4. Uttar Pradesh
  5. Orissa
  6. Punjab
  7. Rajasthan
  8. Madhya Pradesh
  9. Gujarat
  10. West Bengal
Surprisingly there is no South Indian States in the above top ten states. In South India we have four states. The state names are...

  1. Tamil Nadu
  2. Kerala
  3. Karnataka
  4. Andhra  Pradesh
Now the question is what happened to South Indian People. Why they don't show interest to search about Anna Hazare.

Recently Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa resigned his post due to corruption charge. Moreover one central minister (A.Raja) and one M.P (Kanimozhi) from Tamil Nadu already in Tihar Jail due to 2G scam. Due to the same 2G corruption charge few months before one central minister (Dayanidhi Maran) also from Tamil Nadu resigned his post.

I could not find the reason why Anna is not popular in South India. If you know the reason please share with me.

Why we need design: Here is my students answer

Currently I am teaching Web Designing. Web Designing is one of the paper in MCA course. This is second time I am teaching Web Designing. This time I have done some extra home work to teach this paper.

I realized that it's not easy to say what is design. Yes, design is not easy to define. Meanwhile I decided to do something to take my students into designing. Instead of trying to say what is design, I preferred to teach why we need design in initial lessons.

I started one of the session in last week with an open discussion of why we need design. Students shared their answer. Here I would like to share two of my students answer. The student names are Madusudhanan and Maria Jancy.

Maria Jancy
Maria Jancy said that...

"To convey our message easily we need design"

Madusudhanan
Madusudhanan said that...

"To help others to understand our message easily we need design"

You may think to attract or impress others we need design. But designers are not using design to impress anyone. They use design to express their message.

Offcourse people may say that your design is attractive or impressive. But we need to approach design to express our message.

Therefore never try to impress anyone through your design. Just try to express.
